Day Nineteen - El Cajon, California

Seaport Village, San Diego

It has been such a welcome pleasure the past two days to wake when the mood struck us.  After getting a lube and a wash for our poor, overworked car, Genie showed us the way to Seaport Village, a very nice little area on the waterfront with shops and restaurants and $8 per hour parking if you forget to have one of the shops validate your parking ticket.

After shopping at sock shops, tile shops and other oddities, it was time for lunch at the Edgewater Grill.

A naval vessel...

Reuniting with Genie's girls and their families

Gene's daughter Michelle and her husband Cory and two sons also live in El Cajon and we were fortunate when visiting them that daughter Colleen, with her son Christian, were visiting from their home in Florida.

All in all, we have completely enjoyed the hospitality of Ms. Shagnasty, aka my cousin Gene Pivero, and this very restful time at the apogee of our adventure.  Tomorrow, we have to rise at an earlier hour, and head for the heat of Death Valley and Arizona, and we'll miss our family here and this beautiful part of California.
