Day Twenty-four - Georgetown to Fort Worth

Our GPS gal, Michelle, thought we were wandering
through orchards for the first seven miles or so.

A nice morning with friends

What a luxury to sleep late in the home of our friends Ronnee and Steve.  When we did finally rise, hours after they had, it was conversation on the lanai, coffee, and then a great lunch of turkey burgers grilled by the master himself, Steve Bienstock.  Ultimately, though, we had to leave on the next leg of our journey, and Steve was kind enough to direct us to a route that GPS gal Michelle had yet to learn about.

No, that's not an Amish wagon, that's our friend Steve terrorizing the
highways in Sun City, Georgetown, Texas.

Steve led us to a serious shortcut, shaving nearly a half hour off our trip from
Georgetown to Fort Worth.
Damn, I know this doesn't look like much, but it's green!  Don't see
much that's green in other parts of the west.
Perhaps the longest damn entrance ramp we've ever seen.  We spent a mile
or so in the air just on the ramp from I-35 West (a long story about directions
here) to I -30 West.  But it worked, so who's complaining?
Today was a fortunate short driving day.  We arrived at our hotel before five, and at Elmer's shorty afterward.

Elmer and I went to a nearby rib place for takeout, and shortly after we arrived back at their place on Willow Circle, Naomi showed up as well.  We had a lovely evening with ribs and potato salad and Kahlua,
Wine,  Drambuie and conversation.

Looking forward to a whole day here tomorrow.
