Day Twenty-five - With family in Fort Worth

Elmer and Naomi

Elmer Barney, Jr. is Mary Frances oldest brother.  He lives in Fort Worth and shares his life with Naomi Scott.  It's a story of all's well that ends well.  Elmer and Naomi knew each other for a brief time many years ago, and after a number of decades and spouses found themselves alone at the same time, and Elmer came a-courting.   High-maintenance Elmer and devoted maintainer Naomi make the perfect senior couple, and are always fun to visit.

This morning Mary Frances and I finally gave in to the tiredness of six thousand miles in 25 days and slept nearly until noon, then motored east on I-30 to visit Elmer and Naomi for a second day.  After pleasant conversation and some emergency repairs to Elmer's computer, we all went out together to a historic Fort Worth restaurant, The Mexican Inn.  The food was sumptuous, the service outstanding, and the margaritas were excellent.

Back at Naomi's and Elmer's we kicked back for a while (with a little help from Drambuie and Kahlua) until reality kicked in and it was time to return to our hotel for a lot less sleep than last night, and a long trip tomorrow.  Mary Frances snapped a couple of pictures on the way:

Lots of road construction in Texas.  Here on I-30 is a bridge to nowhere.
It's a short post today--most of our day was family chat.  Tomorrow, it's off to Memphis, Tennessee, and the beginning of our last week of this adventure.  Can you imagine spending day after day driving hundreds of miles down the road with one other person?  And we're as happy together as when we left.  It must be love.
